In the second week of school, students took part in the much-anticipated student government elections. With candidates competing for important positions, everyone was excited to cast their votes and look forward to a year filled with new events.
Jasper Weston, the outgoing SGA President, talked about what the elections meant to him. “At the start, I was nervous about the responsibility I had, but it was exciting nonetheless,” Weston said. “Seeing so many students get involved really showed how much they care about our school.” Weston had been in the SGA for two years and wanted to leave a positive impact.
Michael Robinson, the SGA Vice President, shared his feelings about the process. “Elections aren’t just about winning; they’re about bringing everyone together,” Robinson explained. “I felt like this year’s candidates were really passionate and ready to make a change.” Robinson’s experience with planning events helped him understand how important teamwork is.
Sophia Acosta, the FHS Secretary, emphasized the need for student voices. “Every vote mattered, and I was super proud of how engaged everyone was this year,” Acosta said. “It’s important that we all have a say in how our school is run.” Acosta took her role seriously, making sure everyone stayed organized.
As the results came in, the energy was static. Weston said, “No matter what happened, I knew each candidate would bring something good to our school.” He believed that different ideas could lead to positive changes for everyone.
Robinson added, “This is just the beginning. We’re ready to tackle whatever challenges come our way.” His enthusiasm reflected the hope students had for a productive year ahead.
Acosta wrapped things up by stressing the importance of working together. “We’re all in this together,” she noted. “I can’t wait to collaborate with everyone and make sure student voices are heard.” Her commitment to unity resonated with many.
Weston finished with this “when we concluded this year’s SGA elections, I thanked the participants for their effort and dedication. They’re commitment to our community and student body was admiring and I wished for us to keep making a bright future for our school”.
