Freedom High School’s basketball team has had a mixed season so far, with a few victories under their belt but still facing challenges. The team is learning how to play together, and players like Jean LeBrun, Josh DeVore, and Trey Hill have stepped up to lead the charge. Though they’ve faced their fair share of tough games, the team remains hopeful about their growth and future performance.
“We’ve had some solid wins, but we know we need to keep pushing,” Jean LeBrun said. “There’s a lot we still need to work on, and we can’t afford to get comfortable. We’re focused on improving every time we step on the court.”
LeBrun, as one of the more experienced players, has been a steadying force for the team. His focus on improvement has helped the team maintain confidence even after a few setbacks.
“We’re still figuring out the best way to play together, but we’re improving every time we step on the court,” LeBrun added. “Each game teaches us something new. We’ve got talent, we just need to build that chemistry.”
LeBrun’s leadership has helped the team through some of their rough patches. He understands that winning isn’t just about individual effort, but how well the players work as a unit.
“I think the biggest thing is learning how to stay patient,” he explained. “The games where we’ve struggled, it’s usually because we rush things or get impatient. If we can stay calm, we’ll perform better.”
“We need to trust the process and not get discouraged when things don’t go our way,” LeBrun continued. “It’s easy to get frustrated, but staying positive and focusing on what we can control is key.”
Josh DeVore, another leader on the team, shared his thoughts on how the season has unfolded. DeVore has been key in adapting to different roles, proving himself as a versatile player who can step up when the team needs him most.
“It’s been a season of adjustments,” DeVore explained. “We’ve had to change our game plan a lot depending on who we’re up against. But the wins we’ve had show we’re on the right track.”
DeVore’s flexibility has been invaluable for the team, as he’s able to fill in wherever needed, and his mentality remains focused on growth.
“We’re still figuring out the chemistry, but the wins we’ve had show we’re on the right track,” he added. “The effort is there, and we know we’ve got what it takes to compete. We just need to build on those positive moments.”
DeVore also emphasized that each game is an opportunity to improve, regardless of the outcome.
“Every game gives us a chance to learn,” he said. “We might not always get the result we want, but each game teaches us something important that we can carry into the next one.”
“We know there’s still a lot of room to improve, but we’ll get there,” DeVore concluded. “We’re not giving up. We’ll keep working until we put everything together.”
Trey Hill, one of the team’s standout players, reflected on how far the team has come despite the setbacks. Hill’s relentless work ethic has inspired the team to keep striving toward their potential, and his focus is always on the next opportunity to improve.
“We’re definitely not where we want to be yet,” Hill said. “But the effort’s there, and we’re seeing progress. We just need to keep building on that.”
Hill’s focus on the team’s potential, rather than dwelling on the losses, has helped maintain the team’s morale. His determination is a model for his teammates to follow, especially when facing tough competition.
“We have a lot of talent, but it’s about coming together and learning how to play as one,” Hill continued. “We’ve had some good wins, but now it’s about putting it all together consistently. That’s the next step for us.”
The team remains optimistic, believing that their hard work will pay off. Hill is confident that with continued effort, the team can turn things around and finish the season stronger.
“We’ve got some good wins, and now it’s about taking the next step,” Hill said. “We need to stay focused, keep learning, and trust each other. We’ll be even better next time.”
Despite the ups and downs of the season, the team is determined to keep improving and achieving success. With LeBrun, DeVore, and Hill leading the charge, Freedom High’s basketball team is focused on their growth and the opportunities ahead.
“We’re just going to keep pushing ourselves, game by game,” LeBrun said. “The more we work together, the better we’ll get.”
“The effort is there, and we’re determined to finish stronger,” Hill concluded. “We know what we’re capable of, and we’re going to give it everything we’ve got.”
