Thursday September 11th, 2014 at 8:46 a.m. Freedom High School students stood outside in the courtyard and remembered the lives we lost 13 years ago.

Zoe Farris, a freshmen at Freedom High School said, “It was an emotional event, but it was still good,” about the ceremony.

The band played the song Taps as NJROTC’s Color Guard’s commander called out the commands, and the NJROTC students performed them. They did this beautifully with no errors, everyone was respectfully silent and on cue. The NJROTC Color Guard showed off the Nation’s and Florida’s flag.

Destiny Davis, a freshmen at Freedom High School stated, “This ceremony is needed. It’s needed because students need to remember those people who lost their lives, and the families who suffered the losses. It was a tragic incident that needs to be remembered.”

When asked about how she felt about 9/11 Clinsha Bannis, a senior a Freedom High School, said “It is depressing because the day of 9/11 I saw Bush’s face and how it changed. I will always remember that.”

“It’s a sad and tragic thing, it shouldn’t have happened. It was a great lost to all, we lost two of those most important things in America and it sucks. It was scary and sad, and I’m sorry it happened,” said junior, Sara Hofshneider.

It is great that every year, Freedom does the 9/11 ceremony. It is a way to show respect as it illustrates how Freedom and Liberty  have a personal connection to 9/11.
