Freedom’s Naval Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps Unit, NJROTC, conducted their Area Managers Inspection on Tuesday, the 5th.  Annually, the cadets are assessed and graded by a Reviewing Officer.

This year, Commander Patrick Thurman conducted the inspection on Freedom’s unit. It began in the gym where cadets were individually examined and given a grade. The Pass in Review was then held on the football field, where families were invited to watch the ceremony.

Captain Theodore Wasylkiw explained, “We’ve been preparing for this since we got back from winter break with each class. Now we’ve been practicing all together, everyone is ready.”

Fortunately, after a few rainy days, the weather held out and the ceremony was able to take place without any problems.

The events were commenced by Lieutenant Olivia Kennedy,12, singing the National Anthem. The following ceremonies included unarmed and armed demonstrations, and the final Pass in Review completed by Commander Thurman.

“Overall everything went very smoothy,” Lieutenant Olivia Kennedy said, “All the drills went according to plan, I think everyone is happy with how it turned out.”
