Cancel Culture – An Opinion Story
May 24, 2023
I think it’s important to remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and that we should respect each other’s beliefs. Cancel culture can be harmful because it can lead to people being unfairly judged and ostracized based on their past actions or beliefs, rather than being judged on who they are as a person today.
Additionally, cancel culture can be a form of bullying, as it can be used to silence people who have different opinions or beliefs than others. It can be harmful and bring out the truth even in the wrong situation. Cancel culture helps society acknowledge situations that are not okay and need to be shut down. If someone or something is being bothered by an act and it isn’t up to today’s standards social media should be aware. Once they catch wind of any situation, they can let the word spread and shut down the entire oppressive system.
Cancel culture has its positives despite what many people think. But it also has its flaws, the idea that anyone can pull information from your past and use it against you irritates many high-ranking politicians or people.
That’s the beauty of cancel culture, just because they did it 20 years ago still does not make it acceptable, and they should be ashamed of their actions. And as always actions have consequences, and you must live with them.
Finally, cancel culture can be a form of censorship, as it can be used to suppress speech and ideas that some people find offensive or uncomfortable. Ultimately, I think it’s important to remember that we should treat others with kindness and respect, and that we should always strive to learn from our mistakes and grow as people.
