Freedom High School is currently operating on a traditional seven-period schedule, with each
class meeting every day for 45-50 minutes. However, I think that we should run on an A/B block
schedule, which has several potential benefits for our school.

Under an A/B block schedule, students would take four classes each day, with each class
meeting for 90-120 minutes on alternating days. This would mean that students would have
fewer classes to focus on each day, allowing them to spend more time on each subject and
reducing the amount of time spent transitioning between classes.

One of the most significant benefits of an A/B block schedule, is that it allows for longer, more in-
depth class periods. With more time in each class, teachers have the opportunity to go beyond
the basics and delve deeper into the subject matter. This not only allows for more engaging and
interactive lessons, but it also gives students more time to ask questions and get individualized
help from their teachers.

In addition to improving the quality of instruction, an A/B block schedule can also have a positive
impact on student stress levels. With fewer classes to worry about each day, students can
better manage their workload and have more time for extracurricular activities or homework.
This can help reduce stress and anxiety, which can improve overall student well-being.

Another benefit of an A/B block schedule is that it can provide more flexibility for teachers to
collaborate and plan lessons. With fewer classes to teach each day, teachers have more time to
work together and share ideas. This can lead to more creative and effective teaching strategies,
which ultimately benefits students.

Finally, an A/B block schedule can also benefit students who struggle with attention and focus.
With longer class periods, there are fewer interruptions and transitions, which can help students
stay engaged and focused for longer periods of time.

Overall, there are many compelling reasons why Freedom High School should consider
adopting an A/B block schedule. With longer class periods, improved instruction, reduced stress
levels, increased collaboration among teachers, and improved focus for students, an A/B block
schedule could have a significant positive impact on our school community.
