High school can be hard. Even harder when you’re working two jobs after school.

I am 17 and a junior in high school. I work 4 days a week as a takeout specialist at Red Lobster
and the other 3 days as a cashier and baker at Smallcakes.

It is definitely hard starting my werk off with a fast, upbeat job, then going to a slow quiet job
later in the week.

Dont let me fool you. It is very stressful. I usually have around one hour a day to focus on
studying and homework. Right after school I have to rush home and get ready for work.

I usually work at least 30 hours a week. It is definitely a great way to get my mind off things. The
money is also nice. I can now go out with my friends and not worry about not having enough
money for things I want.

I have always hated asking or needing to borrow money from my parents. I believe in working
for everything you have and want to conquer in life.

Starting with buying myself a horse on my 15th birthday, to buying my phone, and then selling
my horse so I could buy my car on my own.

Overall working two jobs has taught me how to be more independent as well as leadership
skills, responsibilities, and problem solving. I’ve also been working on saving money for bigger
things I want in life. For example a new car and when I am ready to move out I can buy my own
place.

Working 2 jobs while still being a full time student is stressful but in the end definitely worth it.
You get the chance to meet new people, make new friends, and learn new life skills
