Recently I have enjoyed looking up new recipes and trying them out. One thing I particularly enjoyed making was bagels from scratch. They were super easy and only need 5 ingredients.
To start making them, preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Then, you will need one cup all- purpose flour, one and a half teaspoons of baking powder, one teaspoon of salt, one cup plain yogurt, and egg wash (one tablespoon of water mixed with one egg). This recipe will make 4 good sized bagels.
Start by mixing the flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Then, add the yogurt and mix the dough until it forms into a sticky dough. Take your dough and put it on a floured surface. Roll the dough with the flour until it is no
longer sticky. Knead the dough and split into 4 equal sections. Roll the section out into a rope and form into a bagel shape.
Next, take your egg wash and brush onto the bagels. After your egg wash, season your bagels to your liking. Personally, I like using Everything but the Bagel seasoning on some and garlic powder on others. After your bagels are seasoned, put in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned.
Take out your bagels and enjoy! I like putting cream cheese on mine but they would also be good with bacon and egg, peanut butter, or jam
