Introducing Coach Quick

Coach Quick is finishing up his second year working at Freedom. Along with being an FHS tennis coach, Quick teaches all levels of English. Before teaching at Freedom, Quick taught Italian for six years at Ben Hill Middle School.

After deciding to take on the new challenge of being a FHS tennis coach, Quick has been working with the players to improve their techniques in preparation for this year’s districts and regionals.  The players practice twice a week in addition to playing two matches per week, and their hard work is paying off.

“Coach Quick has really shaped up the team and our practices. We’ve definitely improved as a team,” commented Jared Klay, 12.

Since his father was a professional tennis coach, Quick’s tennis career began at a young age.

“I’ve played tennis ever since I could hold a racquet. I played club and high school tennis before an injury made me stop. Ever since, I’ve coached professionally.”

While this tennis season has had it challenges, Quick has helped the players remain focused and have an overall successful season. He plans on continuing to coach at Freedom, hopefully leading the team to states in the future.

“Our sights are on, but not limited to, regionals. If we maintain our current path, and keep our game at our highest level, this goal should be obtainable.”
