Freedom High School’s Student Government Association (SGA) is welcoming an entirely new administration. Recently, Freedom’s SGA has selected Aidan Boggs as the new President, Camille Herbert as the new Vice President, Alek Rojas as the new Treasurer, Gracie Seidl as the new Secretary, and math teacher Mr. Nolan as the new sponsor. The entire association believes that a new staff will result in great innovations.

“I think it’s going to be a fresh start where we can really change things up and incorporate more activities and ways to get students involved at school,” said SGA Vice President Camille Herbert.

The surfacing of great ideas and ambition to improve school spirit, along with including students in campus decision-making, has Freedom’s SGA very excited about the upcoming school year.

According to SGA President Aidan Boggs, “I believe a majority of the problem with our school spirit is that many students have great ideas and want things changed, but have no idea how to make their voice heard.” He also added, “I really want to foster a sense of community. I want to be the most approachable guy on campus so that anyone with any problem can come to me regardless of what it might be.”

In addition to the association’s enthusiasm, the students displayed a great devotion and mindset when applying for their positions. When Boggs was asked as to why he applied for president, he answered, “Well, I know it’s a pretty big deal that Ms. Guida is passing on the sponsorship to Mr. Nolan, so I wanted to help out. I have many ideas for next year in hopes of making it better.” He continued to say, “Mr. Nolan is one heck of a guy. He’s the man who convinced me to run for president in the first place and I can’t thank him enough.”

Furthermore, Boggs also spoke with great confidence about the new association.

“I’m very excited to have Camille by my side. Through this past year I’ve seen her work ethic and how creative she can be. I can’t wait to see what ideas we come up with next year! And Alek has been my boy since day one and there’s no one I could trust more with our money for next year. I’ve also known Gracie since kindergarten. She’s a brilliant girl with great ideas,” said Boggs.

Also, SGA wants the students who have applied for the class to know that they should look forward to being a part of a wonderful association full of great students, as well as setting an example for the rest of the student body.

“They should look forward to the chance to be a part of such a fun group of people who they may have otherwise never even met, but also for the chance to set an example for the rest of the student body and adding spirit and pride into each day at school, not just at the sporting events,” said SGA Vice President Herbert.

As for the student body, everyone should be excited for new opportunities to improve Freedom High School as a whole.

“SGA is more than just about school spirit. It’s an integral part, but there are other aspects that are just as important. SGA should be more governmental. They should be a part of the decision making. Anybody on campus should be able to go to an SGA member and say ‘I have an idea,’” said Mr. Nolan.
