Buccaneers or Suckaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of the three NFL teams in the state of Florida. Last season, the Bucs had a record of 2-14 losses, which finished them in dead last in the league. Personally I think the Bucs will have a terrible season this year; their 42-14 loss against the Tennessee Titans led me to believe this. The Tennessee Titans finished one place above the Bucs. I’m not the only one to think the Bucs will do terrible. When asked about the Bucs’ prospective season, Stephen Norman, football fan, promptly responded with “3-13, the Bucs are terrible.”
Leading the Bucs offensive is Jameis Winston, who was drafted from Florida State University as the first pick overall in April’s draft. The former Heisman Trophy winner isn’t who we thought he would be. Back in his FSU days Winston threw 65 touchdowns but was intercepted 28 times; which is a lot of interceptions for a NFL prospect.
On his NFL debut for the Buccaneers, Winston threw two touchdowns and two interceptions. His first throw for the Bucs was an interception; which was returned for a touchdown. When asked “Do you think Jameis Winston will be a good quarterback for the Buccaneers?” Will Rojka, Bucs supporter, said, “Winston is a good quarterback, he just needs time to get better and get used to the NFL.”
Making the decisions for the team is Lovie Smith, the head coach of the Buccaneers. I’m sure Smith will be fired if this next season is another bad season. Agreeing with me is Cole Rodgers, who said, “Smith will probably get fired after this season if the Bucs finish last again.”
During the Titans game, the Buccaneers offense had two illegal formations called against them almost simultaneously. Stefan Hordeyczuk, who has played football at Jefferson High School and is a long-term Buccaneers fan, he told me “Smith is at the end of his days with the Bucs. He’s not as good as he used to be.”
Most of the Bucs fans I have talked to have said “the Bucs suck” amongst a litany of other vulgar comments. I’m not walking alone when I say I think the Bucs will do terrible this season; however some others believe they can turn everything around before the end of the season. It’s only been one game but we’ll see how the Bucs from here on out.
