Harrison Ford Crashes Plane
Harrison Ford, star actor in Star Wars and Indiana Jones, was involved in a plane crash on March 6, in Los Angeles. The seasoned pilot was just airborne in his 1942 Ryan ST plane when he reported engine failure and requested an emergency landing at Santa Monica Airport on the west half of LA. His plane was unable to make it to the runway and instead landed on the way to 8th hole at the Penmar Golf Course.
Ben, Fords son, told the AP “Dad is ok. Battered, but okay!” His response was very optimistic after the accident.
Ford is expected to make a full recovery and received major but non-life-threatening injuries. He was flying in a WW2 plane painted with yellow wings to resemble a U.S. Army Corps trainer right before WW2 happened. The plane had two open cockpits, one being used by Ford and the other was unused.
Just minutes before the crash landing Ford made a radio call to the air traffic controllers stating that he had engine failure and requested an immediate for an emergency landing. He was granted permission to land but was unable to make it to the runway before his plane went down.
People believe that the plane clipped the branches of a tree on its way to the ground. Once on the ground bystanders immediately found him and paramedics were shortly on the scene.
Despite the big gash on his head, Ford is expected to be just fine and will make a full recovery.
