Controversy Over America’s TV Dad

Controversy Over Americas TV Dad

Widely known star of The Cosby Show, Bill Cosby, shocked the world recently with over 20 alleged rape charges. Many professed victims reported being drugged by Cosby and then sexually assaulted over a decade ago. The most recent woman to claim this is Judy Huth, who accused Cosby of an assault that supposedly occurred when she was 15, around 1974. Huth sued Cosby for causing her “psychological damage and mental anguish.”

Bill Cosby’s youngest daughter, Evin, recently spoke out about the charges in a statement to Access Hollywood. “He is the father you thought you knew. The Cosby Show was my today’s TV reality show. Thank you. That’s all I would like to say,” said the 38 year old.

Cosby’s wife Camille also stood by his side when she released a statement comparing Huth’s accusation story to a professed gang rape at the University of Virginia. “The story was heart-breaking, but ultimately appears to be proved untrue,” Camille wrote, “Many in the media were quick to link that story to stories about my husband — until that story unwound.”

Los Angeles prosecutors have decided that they will not charge Cosby for the alleged sexual assault against Judy Huth due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

Cosby’s lawyer Martin Singer stated Huth’s case “fails to state sufficient facts to constitute a cause of action for claims arising out of alleged childhood sexual abuse”.  Singer also recognized the absence of a certificate of merit from Huth’s lawyer and doctor proving her claims of “mental anguish.”

The decision not to prosecute Cosby over Huth’s accusation displays the difficulty that will be faced by any of the other reported victims who wish to pursue allegations against the TV star. Many are still curious to believe why such accusations would be made against Bill Cosby.

Although the famous TV figure is staying silent about the situation, Cosby’s longtime friend Tony Williams has spoken out. Williams believes his friend is being targeted due to his fame and money.

“It did make me angry because I felt it was a lie,” Williams told Fox News. “There are a lot of folks that are looking for positive notoriety.”
