The 2014-2015 season of college football is introducing a new playoff bracket. A selection committee will rank teams, the top four teams will compete in a sudden death championship bracket. This new structure has gathered a lot of interest as teams prepare to enter week eight of the season.

When asked about the playoff, Arkansas AD and committee chairman Jeff Long said, “Our focus is the best, not the most deserving.”

As teams enter week eight, many of the teams are battling to end on top. A lot of the interesting bloodshed has occurred in the SEC West where the Auburn Tigers, now ranked number 6, recently lost to the, now ranked number one Mississippi State Bulldogs. Another powerhouse favorite, the Alabama Crimson tide, was defeated by the Ole Miss Rebels. The SEC West will be a conference to watch as divisional play continues and many teams yet to play each other.

Cody Prewitt, an Ole Miss player commented before the win, “we don’t really think Bama is as good as they have been.”

With many other teams still in title contention, the Saturdays are becoming even more interesting than ever before. Florida State, defending national champions, remain in the top ranks as they are undefeated so far with a big win over Clemson.

Scotty McGuire’s comment on the Seminoles was, “I don’t care what anyone says, Florida State deserves the title game and they shall receive it.”

These next few weeks of college football will be very important for many teams as they scramble to win selection votes.
