Squirrels Gone Wild
As the “selfie” craze gains popularity, some wish this trend would disappear. For those other than teens and the vicariously living pop culture fans, selfies are disruptive, and downright annoying. This is seen not only in humans, but the animal kingdom as well.
While on a trip from Maine to look at colleges, seventeen year old Brian Genest stopped at John Chestnut Park in Palm Harbor. As he walked the trail, Genest found a squirrel on a hand rail, and paused to take a selfie.
As the flash went off, and the sound of the camera clicked, the squirrel climbed under the teen’s shirt, and began clawing. According to his mother, Genest approached the squirrel by making clicking noises with his tongue in an attempt to get the animal to come closer.
As the aquirrel was attacking, Genest’s mother was snapping pictures. She says neither the squirrel, nor her son was injured.
