Chaos broke through the internet world when the popular app, Flappy Bird, was removed from the app store. The game consists of the gamer trying to maneuver a bird through green pipes without coming into contact with the pipes. The app was released on May 24, 2013 but became widely popular in 2014.The addicting game quickly became the number one most downloaded free game in the IOS App Store. During this time period the maker of the game was racking up an average of $50,000 a day through the app. On February 8, 2014, game creator Dong Nguyen announced he would be removing the game from the App store and Google Play.  Nguyen took the app down when it got to be too much stress and “ruined his life”. Despite his claims, Nguyen took to Twitter on Wednesday to confirm the return of the famous game. A fan tweeted his personal account asking if the game was coming back after rumors spread earlier in the week.

“Yes,” Nguyen replied. “But not soon.”

Through the vagueness of the tweet it sparked hope and even annoyance in people. Since its removal, other various clone games have popped up mimicking the original app but with less effectiveness the original held. People began to sell iPhones, IPads, and other devices that still had the app for a great amount of money. After Nguyen’s interview with Rolling Stone that hinted at the return of the game his tweet later confirmed the rumor. However, Apple’s rules state that Nguyen gave up his rights to the name of Flappy Bird when he deleted it from the app store.

“I think Nguyen should be able to keep the name, considering he created the app and all its success” Sophomore Rachel Bond said.

While Mobile Media Partners has already created a pending trademark name for the game others speculate that Nguyen will follow a different path and work something out with Apple. Despite all the swirling rumors around the topic the creator has seemed sure of the games return. His only warning to the return is to take a break. Nguyen admitted he felt guilty over the lives ruined since the game came out including adults losing jobs and parents not paying as much attention toward their kids.

“This is one of the best games that has ever come out on the app store, so I was really glad to hear the possibility of the game coming back to the App Store” Bond said.

The exact date of Flappy Bird’s comeback is yet to be mentioned. Nguyen, who tries to stay out of the spotlight most of the time, has not further expanded on the vague tweet that sent all fans into a frenzy. Since the take down of the app the Vietnamese creator has come up with other games like Shuriken Block and Super Ball Juggling. Even though the pressure of the game got to Nguyen it seems even he could not shake the infamous Flappy Bird.
