Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is a popular comedy movie that takes place in the 1980s and is based on a news industry where four former news anchors reenter the game to forever change the world of news casting. Despite the high expectations for the sequel to Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, many older fans were left disappointed. However, the younger crowd found the numerous puns and overwhelming characters to be hilarious.

The original movie was not a huge success, but over the years it had developed a cult status so intense that it begged for a sequel. Though the general masses enjoyed watching the movie, giving it a 7.1/10 on IMDb with over 30,000 reviews, a negative trend can be found among top critics.

“Anchorman 2 is louder, sillier and vastly more absurd than it’s now cult predecessor, but it’s also longer, so when those less successful sequences miss the mark it feels like there are yawning chasms between laughs instead of beats,” said Blake Howard of 2UE That Movie Show.

“A distressingly underwhelming sequel,” said David Nusair of Reel Film Review.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continue is a great comedy over all, but if the director’s goal was to create an effective parody of the 1980s news industry, then the director completely overshot the film. The director made the movie far too surreal and comical that any attempt to criticize 1980s news would be drowned out by the senseless atmosphere of the movie.

If you’re looking for a ton of laughter and a great movie experience, Anchorman 2 is a great movie. However, if you’re looking to relive the moments of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, sadly, this movie won’t be exactly what you’re looking for.
