On May 19th, 2005, the third installment of the prequel trilogy of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith Came out no one knew how impactful, emotional, and overall fantastic it would be until they went to see it. Its success surpassed the last 2 Star Wars movies by a mile and then some being considered one of the best Star Wars movies ever made. Even now 20 years later the movie is widely known as the crown jewel of any Star Wars fan, no matter what age or expectations you may have Revenge of the Sith is the most impressive cinematic masterpiece the entire saga has ever seen up until rouge one which was also one of the most highly viewed and rated Star Wars movies out there.
On April 25th Friday of 2025, the movie finally released back again 20 years later in theaters and broke records in my own opinion the majority of people that did go to the theaters on both the 25th and the 26th seemed to be going to watch Revenge of the Sith. It’s broke records on its opening day grossing over $104.5 million dollars, as of Monday, April 28, 2025, the 20th anniversary rerelease of Revenge of the Sith has made a quarter of the money it made in 2005 during opening weekend: $25.2 million at the box office just in North America. This means it’s the second-highest Star Wars rerelease ever, just behind the 1997 Special Edition rerelease of A New Hope.
Even with all the great scenes in the movie we must appreciate the cast too with celebrities like Natalie Portman as Padme, Hayden Christensen as Anakin, Samuel L Jackson as Mace Windu, etc. The movie also has a lot of great battles for action fans and a very easy to follow storyline that does not take away from the incredible scenes of the this incredible movie. It’s use of impressive modern CGI and great director led it to be such a massive success. Speaking of CGI, the budget for the movie was $113 million dollars and it brought in just over a billion dollars overall.
In conclusion Revenge of the Sith is a masterpiece in the big screen and was successful from start to Finnish not a single dime was wasted in the budget. Even with all the haters it managed to beat all odds and has set its place in history as the best cinematic movie in all Star Wars.
