This year students have created several intriguing new clubs, that many students are thrilled to see or be in.
One of the new clubs that were created by some of the students is the “Little Lives club” in which plan to positively impact children’s lives and inspiring jobs in the medical field, education, and psychology.
“What inspired me to start the club was my love for all things relating to the medical field. I was sitting in a lecture at USF and the professor was telling us about a club they have there that helps raise awareness for wildlife, and I thought to myself how I’ve always wanted to start a club but instead for something I love. My dream job is to become a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse and work with babies,” president of the club: Kamierya Woods said. “The club’s overall purpose is to help raise awareness for children who suffer from illnesses and children who are less fortunate, it’s also to spark the interest in students to join the medical field, psychology, or early childhood education as a future career.”
Another new club who has gained popularity is the “ChaRIZZma Club” created by Nubian Peterson (11) is an interest club where students have a place where they can feel included and bond with one another. Peterson was able to get over 130 applicants for his ChaRIZZma Club, which is about 30% of the students at Freedom High School.
“I got the idea for the ChaRIZZma Club when I was with my friend Jayna Marc and thought I should make a Freedom High School Rizz club” Peterson said. “[Marc told me that at least 5 people wouldn’t join.] By the first day I got 37 people to join, so it gave me the idea: what if I actually contributed to something? A little place where every student can be included, and where they can test their charisma, and long story short it’s now officially a club.”
Peterson wasn’t alone when coming up with the idea the “ChaRIZZma Club” Jayna Marc (11) is the cofounder of the ChaRIZZma Club. Without her help the ChaRIZZma Club wouldn’t have been possible.
“On the surface level the club seems silly, but we want to do something deeper with it, it’s more than just a funny club” Marc said. “In the future we want to make this an honors club and do things with pep rallies, get people involved, and get our name out there. Overall, we just want to make a fun environment and space for students at Freedom.”
