Don’t Take it Personally, But I Still Hate You
April 27, 2018
With my high school career coming to an end, this will be my last time seeing most of the students here. A normal, optimistic person would typically end their last high school newspaper story on a positive note, but not me.
Surely, I will miss a large amount of my classmates at Freedom, however, I will not miss the following types of people:
Overly materialistic people
Spending absurd amounts of money on clothes or accessories will never make sense to me, especially at this age. Chances are, these products will become either ill-fitting or boring in no time, making for a massive waste of money and an annoying belief of entitlement for the best products.
Narcissists
Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with self-love. However, there are very important boundaries to divide those who have love FOR themselves and those who are in love WITH themselves. Unless your name is Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, or Adam Sandler (only in Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore), chances are, you don’t deserve the praise you think you do.
Bad Drivers
This extends beyond my personal pet peeves against typical, annoying mannerisms, because you are putting both my mental stability and my actual life in danger. Although this may sound quite hypocritical coming from the kid who got T-Boned in a Honda Civic (pictured below), I have learned from my mistakes and granted myself permission to critique others’ motor skills.
People who are disappointed/complain about above average grades
These types of people have a special place in my cold, dark heart. Oh, you’re upset about your 90% on your test? That is so tragic I can’t even begin to describe it. I don’t know how you’ll ever get through the horrors of getting an A- on a test, you poor thing!
People who think they their opinions are important
If nobody asked for your opinion, why broadcast it in the first place? Posting your extremely biased, and otherwise hateful, opinions to the internet for the world to see is just straight up uncalled for, ESPECIALLY when just one post isn’t enough, and you feel the need to create a second rendition. Who do you think you are?
