Since the start of tennis season Coach Simard and Coach Quick have been impressed by their FHS players. They are hoping for another District Championship title.

The team is preparing for their upcoming matches, with captains Jared Klay, 12, Matt Koller, 12, and Anna Lamlein, 11, motivating their teammates to victory.

Jared Klay is the number one seed for the boy’s team and plans to continue playing tennis at Southern Virginia University.

Klay stated, “I’m excited to spend my last season with some really great athletes. I’m hoping we win districts again this year.”

While every student can try out for the tennis team, those who do not make the travelling team are still able to attend practices and improve in the sport.

Judith Fenski, 11, is a new member of the Freedom tennis team who just recently learned how to play.

Fenski claimed, “I’ve always wanted to learn how to play tennis and now I’m getting a lot of help from the coaches and my teammates. It’s a lot of work but really fun.”

Koller is another top player with multiple personal and team goals for his last season.

Koller stated, “My plan is to win all of my matches and push my teammates to do their best.”

Boys’ and girls’ dual matches have already started with wins against Robinson and Gaither. They will continue till April 12th.

Home matches will take place at the Tampa Palms Country Club Mondays and Wednesdays. Go out and support your FHS tennis team!
