The Freedom Patriots basketball team recently completed its 2017-2018 school year season. Led by Captain Alek Rojas, 12, and Nick Butler, 11, the team hopes to go far into postseason play.

The season started off on the road at Gaither High School. The Patriots came out with a win, but would later go on a two game losing streak including a loss to rival Wharton. After a .500 average over the next four games, the Patriots would go nearly a month without playing for winter break. Returning from break, the team would finish the season with seven wins and six losses.

Heading into the postseason, the Patriots are facing a rocky road against tough competitors. Tonight, the Patriots take on the Wiregrass Ranch High School Bulls. Tip-off is six o’clock at Wharton High School. If the Patriots come out with a win, they’ll go on to face the Plant High School Panthers in the District Semifinals.

The Patriots look to start out strong tonight, in hopes of advancing far into postseason play.
