Welcoming Ololo

Entering the new school year, Freedom has many new faces, among both staff and students, which some may want to become familiar with. Among the newcomers is Ms. Eileen Ololo, a teacher within the Science department.

“Right now, I teach AP and Regular Biology.”

Ms. Ololo chose Freedom over other schools for many reasons.

“After looking at the school’s profile and the diversity, I figured I would fit in better here. Also, it helps that it’s five minutes away from my house.”

Ms. Ololo has been able to master biology throughout her life as she has studied the science for many years.

“I went to a state college called ‘Seminole State’ for my AA. Then, I transferred to USF and got my Cell and Molecular Biology major degree.”

Ms. Ololo also hopes to enroll in a Medical School at some point in the future.

“I decided to teach for a while before going to Med School.”

Before she mastered biology in the US, Ms. Ololo immigrated to the US as a teenager.

“I was born in Kenya, that’s in East Africa, and I moved to the US when I was around 12 or 13. I’ve lived in Florida since then.”

Ms. Ololo is also a mother to a young boy, which seems to take up most of her free time outside of school.

“I do what moms do. I clean, cook, take care of my son, and go grocery shopping.”

When Ms. Ololo doesn’t have to care for her son, she maintains a variety of interests.

“I listen to music, go to the beach, and do anything fun and legal.”

As for this year, Ms. Ololo is looking forward to “getting to know my students better, because I think my students are pretty cool.”
