Freedom Students React to the 2016 Presidential Election Results
November 10, 2016
Every four years, Americans from all walks of life come together to elect a president. The two main candidates on the ballot this year were Hillary Clinton, representing the Democratic Party, and Donald Trump, representing the Republican Party.
In the end, America decided to elect Donald Trump as President of the United States and the country is very torn about that outcome.
Senior Kush Patel said, “I think it was stupid, a weird election.”
“I thought both of the candidates really sucked,” added Freshman Blake Schroyer.
While some were shocked with the election’s outcome, Trump’s victory didn’t surprise others.
“It went how I expected,” stated Junior Jack Zou.
One thing that has shocked many Americans is that Trump won the election without winning the popular vote.
“I think that hopefully this brings election reforms because it shows the Electoral College is outdated,” claimed Junior Tommy Barker.
Whether or not people think the election was wrong or amazing, they are stuck with the outcome. So now Americans are forced to start looking at the future of the country.
Schroyer said, “Him succeeding depends on if he keeps his promises.”
“I think that he is not going to keep the promises he made, but I hope that he does what is best for the country,” Barker added.
On the other hand, there are people who think Trump might do just fine.
“I think that he is going to do better than everyone else thinks,” added Zou.
Overall, this election has stirred up a lot of controversy and America can only wonder what will happen next.
