Game of Thrones Season-Six Premiere Review
April 26, 2016
***SPOILER ALERT!!! KEY DETAILS ARE REVEALED FROM THE EPISODE***
The long anticipated hit TV series Game of Thrones’ season six premier aired Sunday night, leaving many fans anticipating further episodes.
“The first episode raised as many questions as it answered and keeps me wanting more every week, it’s all I’ve been waiting for, for months,” said Sophomore Cole Crawford.
The episode picked up right where it left off last season, with the death of Jon Snow; the climax of season five. As expected from Game of Thrones, the episode contained gory murder, vulgar humor and unabashed nudity. However, the episode only revealed snippets of what is to come for the rest of the season.
“It wasn’t as action packed, but they showed a lot of future scenes that built suspense,” said Senior Brenden Stancil.
Additionally, the episode contained strong female dispositions from characters such as Daenerys Targaryen as she defends her worth when she returned back to the Dothraki, as well as a formidably impressive fight scene with Brienne of Tarth as she saves Lady Sansa.
Furthermore, the episode ended with a significant unveiling of the titular character, Lady Melisandre, as she reveals a major secret kept from viewers since she first appeared on the series. The character shocked the audience when she uncovered her true self and age, leaving even further questions to be raised for the rest of the season.
Despite these intense scenes, the episode did not give much insight into the beloved Jon Snow’s prospects of coming back to life. Nonetheless, this didn’t stop fans from speculating.
“I predict we will figure out if Jon Snow comes back or not by the third episode,” said Stancil.
Overall, the first episode of the season left viewers eager for more and anxious for the next episode this Sunday. Will Jon Snow come back to life? What is the truth behind Lady Melisandre? Where will the storyline take Daenerys Targaryen? We can only hope the sixth season satisfies the audience as they have successfully done with their previous five seasons.
“I believe it will be bigger and better than ever with all parts of the realm developing to their full potential,” said Sophomore Cole Crawford.
