UF False Alarm
Florida Gators freshman backup quarterback Treon Harris, was under investigation after he was accused of sexually assaulting a female student on campus early Sunday morning. The school announced Monday that Treon Harris had gone from star to a suspect. The Gainesville Police Department said in a statement that it wouldn’t have an active role in the filing of any charges because jurisdiction lies with the UFPD.
The incident happened on campus at 3 a.m. Sunday, according to police. Hours after leading the gators to a 10-9 win against Tennessee. Harris was supposed to be suspended indefinitely from all team activities.
“We have no tolerance for sexual assault on our campus.” Said UF president Bernie Machen.
A UPD spokesman said his department is was working on the incident report and that it won’t be available “for quite some time.” Until recently it was stated to the public that the charges have been dropped, but the victim still has the power to change her mind. He has been added to the team again and is going to play this weekend, against Missouri.
