Walking Dead Season Five Premiere
Sunday, October 12, AMC’s original series The Walking Dead, also a comic books series, will make its long awaited season five debut. Millions of viewers will tune in to watch with high anticipation as to see what’s new with the characters in this post-apocalyptic drama. There have been many hints and teasers from not only various trailers, but also writers and producers. From what has been revealed so far, this season is going to be a ruthless, jaw-clenching thriller, just as expected.
Last season, the survivors suffered many ups and downs such as death of many group members, separation from each-other and much, much more. However, in the last few episodes most of the group was reunited, but not under the circumstances everyone would’ve hoped for. Rick, the show’s protagonist and his many group members were taken hostage by a group of supposed cannibals and held at a camp called “Terminus.” Only four of the original group remain un-captured: Tyreese, Carol, baby Judith and Bethany.
Producer Gale Anne Hurd stated that season five contains “the most ambitious episodes we’ve ever done”. This certainly hints that this highly anticipated season will not disappoint, and prove to be quite exhilarating. An additional hint Hurd gave was that the group will return to the city this season, which they have not been in since season one. Taking place in Georgia, the big city Atlanta will most likely be a mess of a city, Hurd even refers to it as “the City of the Dead”. This will make for an interesting switch from the usual rural setting.
Something that many of the people who work with the show have said there will be a plethora of changes this season. There will be a few new characters, such as Father Gabriel Stokes played by Seth Gilliam. Trailers titled “Hunt or be Hunted” and “Never Let Your Guard Down” can only mean that as usual, the viewers will be on edge.
Although there have only been particularly vague episode reviews, many people are assuring viewers that they will not be disappointed. Between the new characters, settings and plot twists, this season will fulfill its very high expectations.
