Freedom Basketball Ends on High Note
Freedom High School’s basketball team has had its fair share of ups and down this season. Players have battled through adversity and have shown the ability to rise above and go beyond their expectations. Freedom’s basketball team proved to be successful in the way the team united.
“We are who we are because we had the support of our own student body,” coach Cedric Smith said.
Teachers and staff thanked students for their support and hope the support will help them move forward in upcoming games. Freedom High School students were especially happy when the basketball team beat its biggest rival, Wharton.
“It was a proud moment for the school,” junior Nashalie Vincente said.
Though working well together brought many benefits to the team, the players admit that the hardest game to play was the last game of the season.
“When you are faced with a win or go home scenario it is tough,” Smith said.
With the season coming to an end, students face bidding farewell to the seniors who have played hard to get the team where it is.
“It was especially tough for the team to have to say goodbye,” Smith said.
Some players like Michael Keller, Riley Blake, Daniel Thompson, Malik Robinson, and Devon Bridges will be missed. Even though these all-star team members are leaving, many agree that their effort and dedication will always be appreciated and admired.
