Christmas Traditions

Christmas season is celebrated around the world in a lot of different ways, varying by country and region. Each country has its own unique way of celebrating the Christmas season. An element common in many areas of the world are the lightning of Christmas trees, the hanging of wreaths, Christmas stocking, candy canes and the decorations. Some people celebrate Christmas by doing different things like traveling for Christmas Eve, which is a fun way to celebrate Christmas. Christmas carols may be sung and stories may be told about Santa Claus, Father Christmas, or Grandfather Frost. On Christmas day each family reunites in a single room to celebrate and exchange some of their gifts. When it comes to Christmas, kids say the funniest things!

“In church, my two year old and I were sitting toward the front, close to the Christmas tree. The tree was decorated with a lot of symbol of the Christmas story. Andrea notices a golden curved M, which represents Mary. In her best child voice she pointed out to me, ‘look mommy, burgers and fries!’ (Mistaking it for the golden arches!),” Enise said.

Christmas time is one of the most important periods on the calendar, because when it’s Christmas everyone is happy to celebrate with their loved ones. I think Christmas should be a moment when family and friends can reunite together to celebrate a happy moment, a moment to cherish, and to bring happiness and love into everybody’s heart. I think it should be a moment where you can let everything that’s holding you back from doing something disappear; it should not be a moment of hate, it should be a moment that brings joy to the whole world.
