Golf Team Headed to State Tournament

Among Freedom High School’s roughly two-thousand students is a group of thirteen athletes somewhat overshadowed by the more popular sports. These athletes are a part of the golf team.

The boys’ team, led by coach Michael Pasarelli, won the district championship and placed second in the regionals. The girls’ team, led by coach Richard Simard, won both districts and regionals. Before this year, the golf team had no trophies in Freedom’s display cases, but now, there are four.

Both teams are set to compete in  the State Golf Tournament from  November 5th-6th at Mission Inn near Ocala. The weather is going to be slightly cooler at 65 degrees.

“The cold weather is rough for golfing because it’s harder to get loose, but we’re looking forward to it,” Captain of the girls’ team Terese Romeo said .

Regardless of how the golf team places in states, they have most definitely made a big impression throughout the area and brought a group of students closer together.

“I’m proud of all that we accomplished this year,” Captain of the boys’ team Jimmy Jones said.
