The stage was set bright and early Monday for the Freedom Cheerleading Team as the team competed in the 2018 Cheerleading State Competition at the University of Florida.

The Pats first competed in the 1A Small Division Semi Finals where they needed a top four finish to secure a spot in the 1A Small Division Finals. After an excellent performance, the Patriots managed to place in the top four, allowing them to continue to a finals appearance.

A few hours later, the Patriots took the floor again, looking to duplicate their previous performance.

Unfortunately, the lady pats fell just short, finishing fifth in a very talented division.

“We gave it everything we had,” said Captain Mckenzie Snow, 11. “I’m proud of the team regardless of the result.”

Despite the team’s finish, Coach Rice added some encouraging words.

“It was a rollercoaster of a year but the girls really pulled it together when it was necessary,” said Rice. “They deserved to make it as far as they did and I am proud of them.”

The team looks forward to its final performance this Friday, February 9th, at Disney World.
