Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a student athlete and to participate in activities like clubs? Megan Lippus is a sophomore at Freedom High School. Megan is in Key Club, and has played two years of Varsity soccer and one year of JV volleyball.

Lippus plays midfield, but she recently quit club soccer after playing for 9 years. She wanted to focus on school and high school soccer. This soccer season, she has scored two goals, which was during the district game against Sickles.

“I was determined to score a goal, knowing the season was almost over. It was a nice surprise to score two,” stated Lippus. “I’m always proud of my team and how we played together.”

Her first year of JV volleyball was a success. She became captain of the team, along with her positions as a setter and right side hitter. Megan started every game and got along with her teammates very well.

“I enjoyed playing it and realized how much I missed playing it when I played in middle school,” said Lippus.

When it comes to school, Lippus takes it very seriously. She earned a 4.0 unweighted GPA while taking one AP class and the others all honors.

“I enjoy taking science classes because it’s what interests me for the future, so I can decide what I want to do when I grow up,” noted Lippus.

Lippus wants to continue varsity soccer and hopefully move onto varsity volleyball next season. Another one of her hobbies is rollerblading with her friends in Flatwoods Park.

Lippus shared, “It’s a great activity to do when I am not involved in any sports. It keeps me active while I am having a good time.”
