Homecoming Spirit Week

Get wacky, get retro, and get in character! The Homecoming Spirit Week is a big deal for students at every grade level. Students are encouraged to fit the theme for the day, every day, for the entire week.

Monday is Character day, so students should dress up as their favorite character from literature, television, and movies. For example, a favorite character from Disney, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and so on.

Tuesday is Tacky Tourist Day so grab your bucket hat and Hawaiian shirt! Native Floridians are no strangers to tourists wandering around Tampa and the surrounding areas so draw inspiration from your own experience and stereotypes.

Wednesday is Twin Day. Find someone to match with and coordinate. It has been a spirit day in the past, and it is a favorite of the students.

“Twin day is my favorite. I really like the concept. I personally don’t have a twin so having one for the day is super cool,” said Junior Jared Klay

Thursday is Back to the Past Day so pick a favorite decade and get creative! Go as far back as the 1920’s and style yourself in flapper dresses and suits. Or take it back to a more recent era like the 1970’s and pull out anything everything flared, fringed, tasseled and in suede.

Friday is class colors day, so wear anything or everything in your class color. Freshmen are red, sophomores are white, juniors are blue, and seniors are a mix of all three colors to represent their years at Freedom High School. Show your patriot pride and show up in color!

This is the time to stand out because this year there will be rewards for the best person dressed for each day. To participate, the students can tweet pictures to the SGA twitter (@SGAFHS) or direct message it to them before 4th period each day. Afterwards, SGA will vote on the winner and the winner will be announced 5th period.

“There is always one person who goes above and beyond. There will be incentives this year. Students should start planning their outfits and coordinate with their friends, spirit week begins Monday, September 12th ,” said Student Government President Aidan Boggs.
