On Tuesday, September 9th, Apple announced the release of new and upcoming products: the iPhone 6, the iPhone 6 Plus, and the Apple Watch during its annual keynote presentation. As the world’s most valuable company makes advances to its technology, it continues  to shape the world by incorporating all of its devices in every day usage.

Apple plans to release their newest model of iPhones, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, on September 15th. Unlike other iPhone models, these phones contain a much faster A8 microchip and are currently labeled as “the thinnest iPhones ever”. The 720p and 1080p screens are comprised of an incredibly durable liquid crystal which allows for crisp and clear images and sharper text. Users will also be able to navigate through a portrait or landscape orientation through their mobile interface for the first time on any iPhone. After the release of the new models, the iPhone 5s and 5c will be available for $99 and free under a  two year contract.

With the two new models of phones comes the new iOS8 mobile software. This new software comes equipped with a new health app feature, which allows you to monitor your daily health easily and efficiently, as well as a new keyboard, photo editing capability, custom action center, shake to share option, and much more. The new features will be compatible with all iOS devices  above the iPhone 4.

The 8 mega-pixel lens has been reinvented to take the highest quality images that Apple devices can produce. An all new image sensor has changed the way individuals take photos by automatically reducing noise and utilizing one shot HDR to create an astonishing image by delivering the best exposures from. the background and foreground. Other advancements of the camera include an improved slo-motion video capability, 43 mega-pixel panorama, macro lens, continuous front and back facing auto-focus, and a new time-lapse photo mode.

“I’d bet the iPhone has become the world’s most popular camcorder,” said Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller.

The new Apple Pay feature is a  revolutionary commerce platform available only for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. By using the touch ID finger sensor, users are able to pay for items both in stores and online simply by tapping a finger. All of the credit card info previously input into iTunes can used to purchase items. If a consumer would like to add a card to phone they would simply take a photo in iTunes and have it uploaded to the Passbook app. If someone does not wish to use the Apple Pay feature of the device, they can simply state so while setting up the device. Apple Pay does not store the credit card number or share any of the information of a user’s credit card. Instead it uses a one time dynamic security code to ensure that none of the actual personal information is used, a cashier will never see the credit card information which optimizes security and prevent any security breach. As none of the actual information is displayed or used during payments, it is impossible for another person to compromise anyone’s financial information. If the device is stolen, Apple Pay cannot be broken into without the finger print of the existing user. If in event the phone is broken into, the owner can suspend any payments and cancel any card through Find My iPhone.

The final announcement during the 2014 Apple Keynote was the release of newest Apple advancement, the Apple Watch. This product is the most intimate and customizable with over 2 million variations to suit everyone’s personal needs. Like the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, the Apple Watch comes in two sizes as well as 18 variations from three different models, the Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport, and Apple Watch Edition. The Watch and Edition models contains a crystal clear sapphire display while the Sport contains a strengthened Ion X-glass. Each model contains a digital crown for navigation, and a side button which can be used to access favorite contacts for quick and easy communication. The watch can be navigated by using either a finger or the easy-to-use digital crown. The watch contains a barometer so it can detect movement and  “wake-up” as it feels your wrist moving. Unlike any other smart watch, Apple Watch contains a taptic engine in which a person can “tap” a friend’s wrist to get their attention from their own Apple Watch. It can draw messages, show emoticons, and even send something as personal as a heartbeat that a person can feel on their very own wrist. It even uses a new changing device which magnetically attaches to the center to charge. This new technology can be used to revolutionize the fitness world with its fitness and health tracking abilities which are compatible with the iPhone. Some of the other existing features of the Apple Watch are “glimpse” notifications, GPS navigation, dictation, Siri, advanced maps, and more.

Apple’s 2014 Keynote has set incredibly high standards for competing companies and products for the future and only time will tell of what other advances Apple will make towards revolutionizing the world.
