Requesting Peace in the Middle East and Everywhere Else

Since 1981, over 300,000 people have died as victims of suicide bombings.  Suicide bombing is defined as an act in which an individual personally delivers explosives and detonates them to inflict the greatest possible damage killing him or herself in the process. This act of bombing seems to get worse as years go by. Many people use suicide bombing as a way to attack civilians, political figures and military personnel.

“Killing innocent people can’t be called (for) in the name of Islam,” said Abdurrahman, 23, the Imam of the Yassin Foundation, which runs a Belmont mosque. “Islam doesn’t support killing, regardless of whether the victims are Muslims or not. Life is sacred, and man is not allowed to commit suicide or even destroy another’s life.”

In recent news, there has been a suicide bombing in Iraq, Russia, Turkey and many more foreign countries. Just in 2011, over 12,000 Civilians were killed and over 30,000 have been wounded just by suicide bombing attacks in Iraq and the number keeps climbing. 10 percent of the people in Iraq have lost their life to these types of bombing with in this New Year. The victims of this cold hearted behavior are fed up.  The Pakistani Shia are protesting against suicide bombing in their country. More than 400 Shias were killed in targeted attacks across the country in 2013. The Pakistanis have gone so far as to not bury the dead who have been the victim of suicide bombing until the government makes a change. They want their government to provide increased security in an effort to show the government’s support of all the people.

This type of attack should not just be dismissed in the global political arena. It has been known that revenge seems to play a role in the organizational and individual level in promoting suicide bombing which means it’s a sort of culture that has been forming over the years.  As the time goes on should we sit back and let our mankind suffer from these acts of terrorism? Only time will tell if the Middle Eastern governments will respond to the pleas of their people. We can only hope for peace in the coming months in Sochi and around the world.
