Shari Wilson, science teacher here at Freedom High School is undeniably passionate about the three R’s (reducing, reusing, and recycling). Wilson is the club sponsor for the Earth Team.

“Earth team is a club that the goal is to build a perimeter around Freedom high School that is going to be a botanical living garden,” Wilson said.

To start it all off they will be creating a fundraiser for their vision.

“Right now were devising a fund raising plan to get money for the plant garden which we plan on planting in the spring,” Wilson said.

The plan is a very creative and productive project. Many science teachers here will use it on campus.

“To create a living laboratory one patch at a time with only indigenous native plants to Florida that other teachers will be able to use,” Wilson said.

The back-story of this idea was based in an inspiration by other schools. Wilson saw it as an opportunity and went for it.

“Over the summer I went to a environment class and the professor said how schools on the west coast had these gardens,” Wilson said.

Earth Team will be a big impact here on campus. We will be blessed with a marvelous garden, which will be good for our environment.
