Last night, the Freedom boys’ basketball team played host to Leto High School for their 5th game of the season. The Patriots looked to improve their record to 3-2, following last Friday’s win against Steinbrenner.

The Patriots got off to a strong start early, and lead Leto 15-6 at one point during the first half. However, Leto battled back to trim their deficit to a mere 4 points, trailing 23-19 at half time.

Despite their efforts, Leto could not account for the size and speed of the Patriots. The Patriots took advantage of this and proceeded to dominate play inside the paint and ultimately cruised to a 46-36 victory.

Juniors Jeramiah Ashe and Trey Hinson led the Patriots in scoring as they tallied 17 and 13 points, respectively. In addition, Junior Jayland Desue scored 7 points and Senior Alek Rojas finished with 6 points in the win.

Last night’s win was crucial for Freedom, as they face a rigorous schedule this week. Starting tonight at 7:30, the Patriots square off against Wiregrass, and then finish the week Friday at 6:30 on their home court against Sickles before a three- week break.
