NJROTC Wins Big at First Competition

Congratulations to the Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) for placing fourth at their first competition of the 2016-2017 school year.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Christopher Rumbold placed third in his armed individual drill routine, Seaman Alexi Cruz placed first for individual female pushups, and Commanding Officer Kristopher Ribecky placed first for the most individual male pushups.

“It felt amazing when I heard my name called for the most individual male pushups,” Ribecky said. “The overall competition was fun, but we need improvement. I think armed exhibition drill went well, except for the minor mess ups.”

Command Master Chief Kolbe Walker was excited when the armed exhibition team placed second.

“The competition was alright, but if we scored a little higher in academics, color guard, unarmed drill, and sit-ups of PT [physical training], it could’ve been better,” Walker stated.

Newcomers to NJROTC are seeing what it’s like to be in a serious competition and the pressure cadets can experience.
