Freedoms Morning Show: Revamped

Freedom’s Morning Show, better known as Freedom Television (FTV), has been making waves this school year. FTV has made major changes since last year’s Morning Show, which was broadcasted a handful of times. Students can now expect to see their peers become News Anchors and Meteorologists two to three times each week.

Mr. McCoy is the teacher in charge of TV Production, which produces the Morning Show.

“The main goal of FTV and its changes is to establish a school tradition,” said McCoy, “By doing this, we set an example of what the Morning Show at Freedom is, so that students who come after we are long gone can carry on the FTV traditions.”

The revamped show includes the weather forecast, information about school events and fun segments like ‘Man on the Street.’

As fun and carefree as the show may seem, it takes no lack of hard work. Though the show only airs a couple times a week, students prepare and film all week.

“There is a huge sense of accountability among the students. They are responsible for coming up with ideas and deciding who does what on the show. They are the true producers of FTV,” added McCoy.

The show not only helps Freedom students keep up with events and important dates – it is also beneficial to the cast and crew.

“We are presented with internship opportunities, [and we become] certified in Adobe Flash Pro, which is a major qualification for a lot of internships,” said Dallas O’Clair, crew member of FTV.

In addition to business and scholastic opportunities, students are exposed to social opportunities as well.

“Making friends is easy while preparing the morning show, because it feels like one big family when we are together,” stated Junior Monicia Farmer, an Anchorwoman for the show.

McCoy and the students  of FTV hope to make headlines with the new and improved FTV. With the objective of making FTV one of a kind, they plan outshine every other program.

“We hope other schools will aspire to be like us,” shared Senior Marie Valcine. “We want to have the best morning show in Hillsborough County.”
