Uncharted 4 is Sony’s newest game release, following a character named Nathan “Nate” Drake on his treasure hunting journey. Nate’s treasure hunting days were supposed to come to an end in the previous game, but that plan abruptly changed.

In Uncharted 3, Nate and his brother Sam were on the trail of a pirate named Henry Avery, who committed the largest heist in history in the 1600s, taking treasure worth $400 million dollars from the Mughal Ganj-i-Sawai. Along with wealthy treasure hunter Rafe Adler, the brothers sneak into a Panama jail. Aided by corrupt guard Vargas, Nate sneaks into a tower cell where he finds a cross with the inscription “digna factis recipimus” (Latin: we receive the due reward of our deeds), that points to the treasure being in the St. Dismas Cathedral in Scotland. While trying to flee, Sam is presumably shot dead in the attempt.

Nate gave up treasure hunting until his brother Sam, who he presumed was dead, resurfaced to tell him that he had to find this new treasure or he would suffer consequences from his drug lord ex-cellmate.

The brothers go to Panama after learning that a cross similar to the one they found in the Burnes’ tower was being auction off. After almost getting caught many times, they steal the cross and learn that the treasure is not in the Cathedral, but in a graveyard near it. Once in Scotland, the brothers find themselves in a secret passage under the tombs. In the secret passage, there is a scale with a cross on one side and some copper coins on the other. Taking one of the coins causes a holographic map to appear showing King’s Bay in Madagascar.

Following a clue on the coin, the brothers find themselves in a dormant volcano in King’s Bay. After going through all the tests, another clue points them towards Libertalia, remote pirate colony created by Henry Avery and other captains. Following many clues and searching several islands, the brothers finally find the right one.

Shoreline, a group following the brothers, catches up to them on the island and corners them on a cliff, where Sam takes a bullet for Nate, but both end up being thrown off the cliff. Nate’s wife, Elena, and his mentor, Sully, find Nate alive and help him find his brother who was taken by Shoreline. Nate makes it to the ship in which Sam is stuck under a fallen beam and Rafe decides to fight Nate with the swords of the fallen pirates. The fight ends when Nate drops a net full of gold on top of Rafe and sets off another explosion, flooding the room and allowing the brothers to escape.

The plot for me was really good. Being that I finished the game in under a week, I really wasn’t able to enjoy the game to the best of its ability, but I really like the way it was laid out. However, it was too predictable; everything goes in the favor of the main character, but that’s not just this game, that’s every game.

The storyline was probably one of the best storylines I’ve seen in a game, even though it was very predictable. Also, the cut scenes were amazing, they really drew me into the game. Another thing Sony could do is release it to other consoles, it was a pain just to try to play this game as it is only available on PS4 as I only have an Xbox and a laptop.

Other than the predictableness of the story, it was a very good game. It’s very immersive and pulls you into it where you can’t stop playing until you’ve reached the end. If you’re thinking about getting Uncharted 4, do it, it has one of, if not the best storylines you will ever be exposed to.
