FHS Takes Prom

FHS Takes Prom

Prom is a highly-anticipated event for students in their senior year of high school. Freedom High School’s senior class had high expectations, and their 2016 prom ended up being better than they ever imagined. In previous years, prom had been held at Lowry Park Zoo, however this year it took place at a new venue. Although skeptical at first, students eventually were very pleased with the new location.

“Prom was dumb lit! The DJ was ten times better and the venue was ten times better than at Lowry Park Zoo. They have Chick-Fil-A every year, so the food was the same. Nobody else’s prom compared, FHS’s was amazing. Also, I suggest to underclassmen for future proms to take a party bus. It was the best thing ever,” exclaimed Lexi Neth, Senior.

“I really liked the vibe of the venue. It was really nice and the food was bomb since Chick-Fil-A catered. The zoo is bigger but not as nice. The line to get in this year’s venue was long, but everything else about the place was awesome,” noted Gabby Acevedo, Senior.

This year, Freedom High School’s very own Sal Luongo was the DJ for prom. Despite being under a lot of pressure to perform well, Sal didn’t disappoint.

“The DJ was a lot better than I expected, not that I had low expectations, but he’s still young in his DJ life, and he did fairly well. I was pleased,” noted Senior, Maddy Hall.

While prom is something to look forward to, it can negatively impact bank accounts and induce quite a bit of stress. With dinner, dresses, tuxedos, and other expenses, money can be spent very fast. So the question is, was it worth it?

“I spent a lot of money for prom, but it was well worth it. Especially since I had my dress made so it was perfect,” stated Acevedo.

“There was no stress really, it was pretty solid. My friend did my hair and I did my makeup. It was worth the money. We had catered dinner at Compton which was really good. So it was only $10 to go and a lot of people from the courtyard went,” said Senior Sarah Sagratti.
