FHS Softball Back Again

Freedom High Schools Softball team is among one of the greatest girls teams to play on. The girls have been successful in the past making it all the way to states. They were 15-7 last season, a phenomenal record. They hope to advance farther then their previous season.
“This season we hope to at least make it past districts,” says Autumn Hernandez, Coach of the FHS Softball team.

Many great seasons have gone by but sadly, the team cannot make it past districts. Every team goes to districts but only two move on to regionals.

“We didn’t lose much when last year’s seniors left, we only lost one player who was a great player though,” said Hernandez This year the Freedom Softball teams seniors are very strong. “If you go to one of our games, look for our seniors because they are very strong on the field.”

Currently, the team is in their Fall Ball pre-season. “Fall Ball is a great time,” says Hernandez, “Basically we have one practice and one game a week. It’s a good time for the girls.” They play other high schools around Florida in their district. “Fall Ball is going good for us,” says Hernandez.

The players love playing for the team, they can’t wait for their regular season to start.

“The team is fun, we the seniors have a good relationship with the coach,” says Patty Pellegrin, senior and player on the team, “you’re also always in great shape.” The girls have a close bonding with each other and play well together.

The team doesn’t have a season game until spring when they play for ranking. Each practice, game, and chance they get, the team strives to get better. With their last three seasons finishing 15-7, 12-10, and 22-4 they have a great chance to do well this season.

Until then, they look to train hard to make it past districts. Good luck girls!
